Etro

Etro is an Italian fashion house that produces textiles, home decor and perfumes. Founded in 1968 by Gerolamo “Gimmo” Etro, it remains to this day a family business.

The first collection of Etro was enriched by the Paisly pattern (this pattern is an ancient a droplet-shaped motif of Persian or Indian origin, and called ‘boteh’), which became so popular, the brand still uses the Paisly as a constant point of inspiration.
Leather goods were added to the collection in 1984 with a bag and travel bag collection in Paisley jacquard fabric. In 1990 the first men’s and women’s prêt-à-porter collections arose, their resourceful style earning the label instant recognition.
The company also supplies her finest fabrics (typically colorfully patterned and often with the paisley pattern) to ready-to-wear designers such as Marc Jacobs and Dries Van Noten and haute couturiers like Christian Lacroix, Ungaro and Valentino. Since 1996, Etro has also shown its own prêt-à-porter collection on the runway in Milan.
