The famous Eames Rocking (R) Arm (A) Chair on Rod (R) Base, abbreviated to RAR, was one of the ‘original 5’ released in 1950 and remains a firm favorite with collectors and home owners all these years later. When the original Eames Office and Zenith Plastics colluded to produce the Eames RAR Rocking Chair in 1950 few could have predicted its enduring popularity and rise to ‘design classic’ over the coming years. The Eames RAR Chair was originally marketed as a rocker chair ‘good for young mothers’ but it is fair to say it is a favorite corner piece in all kinds of homes today.
