Corn stalks are symbols of abundance, prosperity and plenty and are used metaphorically to symbolize a good harvest, fertility and a close relationship with mother earth. This highly coveted side table was first made for Coco Chanel in her apartment 31 Rue Cambon in Paris. The elaborate show for the spring/summer 2010 collection at the Palais Royal took place in a beautifully constructed barn. Models stepped over hay in their haute couture with sheaves of wheat. Yves Saint Laurent was also known to embrace its charm. Similar pieces were also created for Yves St. Laurent's duplex 55 Rue de Babylone on the Left Bank. Although Italian in origin, the golden classic wheat sheaf table was the epitome of Parisian chic.

  • The gilt gold base features tall pieces of sculptural metal crafted to look like sheaves of wheat
  • The bunch is tied together in the center with brass metal fashioned into a trompe l'oeil knot
